Flowering and Fruiting Physiology Course Information Sheet

Course Overview

This course is taught in Spring semesters of odd years and covers environmental, chemical, and cultural factors affecting the flowering and fruiting of horticultural crops. In addition, supplemental presentations provided by experts on flowering and fruiting of specific horticultural and agronomic crops will be presented.

Prerequisites: Plant Physiology

Expected Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1) Discuss characteristics of flowering and fruiting in various horticulture and agronomic commodities and how it can be manipulated.
2) Review current literature on factors affecting flowering and fruiting.
3) Develop an in depth understanding of environmental, chemical, and cultural factors for a specific horticulture plant.
